Oscars is a cute black kitty who had run in with a crop harvester earlier this year. The accident left the cat with two less legs. So, a surrey based veterinary surgeon, Noel Fitzpatrick decided to give the cat a set of bionic paws, which of course not only let the cats do the walking and frolicking, but also made it the world’s first bionic cat.

Giving Oscar a set of bionic paws was not very easy, as it required the prototype of University College London's Professor Gordon Blunn. The prosthetic pegs by Blunn bond with surrounding skin and bone. Once implanted, these effectively protrude outwards from stump pockets, which makes it very easy to attach prosthetic limbs. These perfectly engineered legs have given a new life to the cat. Fitzpatrick told the BBC, "We have managed to get the bone and skin to grow into the implant and we have developed an 'exoprosthesis' that allows this implant to work as a see-saw on the bottom of an animal's limbs to give him effectively normal gait." This ground-breaking technology may soon find its way to treat humans.
