Organic EL display bends 2 inches to wrap around the wrist

LG and Universal Display Corp have combined together to develop a flexible organic electroluminescent display which the two companies showcased at the SID. It is a 4-inch display, shaped like a bracelets, which can show about 1.67 million colors and is flexible enough to be worn around the wrist. The makers have put phosphorescent material in use to make the 0.3mm thick organic EL display, which features a QVGA with 320 x 240 pixels and 100ppi resolution. With a weight as little as 8g, the display has a thin steel plate resurrected as the substrate, yet is bendable to a useful 2 inches. Is this an early call for watches and wearables with EL displays?
