Olympus unveils LS-20 HD camera recorder, a cool Flip replacement

Olympus is a brand very well known for its voice recorders. This time Olympus comes up with LS-20M. It is a combination of Audio recorder and full HD camcorder. It can record and edit high resolution videos of 1080p and can also record high quality sound at 24bit/96Hz linear PCM. The LS-20M has a digital zoom of 4X, auto focus lens of 4.1mm, two condenser microphones to capture sound of best quality. The LS-20M has a 2” LCD screen and1.46″ LCD data screen for audio level. Estimated price of this unique recorder is $299.99(~ Rs. 13,200). It will be available in June in markets.

Functionality:

Unlike today’s DSLR cameras which lack high quality sound, LS-20M not only record video up to 1080p but also record sound of 24bit/96Hz. By using AVCHD/MPEG-4 (MOV) format, you can set this HD camera for recording at 720p (30fps) or standard-definition (640x480 at 30fps). Audio can be recorded directly to MP3 at either 320 or 256kbps (both 44.1 kHz) or by lossless PCM format at 96 or 44.1 kHz. The camera has 4X digital zoom, image stabilizer and an auto sensing reverse angle recording. Recorder has adjustable microphone sensitivity and auto or manual recording levels. To give an artistic look, various optional Magic Movie special effects are included such as "pop art," "rock," "sketch," and "pinhole" etc.

What to expect:

LS-20M has switch able low-cut filter that that allows eliminating unwanted background sound and low frequency sound can also be eliminated. It has 2” colored LCD screen and data screen of 1.46” to display audio and battery level. Olympus LS-20M supports USB port and HDMI output. It just weight 5.4 ounces. It has silver and black body. Certain special features are also included to give special effects like Rock, Sketch, Pinhole, and Pop. It has voice-activation quality which start recording automatically at certain level of sound. Self-Timer is another feature of this unique thing.

Olympus LS-20M is compact pocket size cam with super quality sound. It can easily capture and edit a video of 1080p and sound of 24-bit; 96 Hz Linear PCM stereo sounds.

One weird thing about this, it has lens on top of the device which makes it hard to look at the screen. This is aimed at people who want to record various events, special meetings, music performances, sporting events etc. But with so many good feature Olympus LS-20M is worth waiting for.
