The British government is all set to counter attack the proposed European Rules that would make it responsible for checking the decency in the videos uploaded on sites such as YouTube and MySpace.

Britain’s media watchdog Ofcom argued that the plan is impractical and would force customers to use other U.S. based sites.

Ofcom said that the internet users should be allowed to check themselves as the internet has no borders and if the users in one country are stopped from a site then they will switch to other sites owned by different countries.

Ofcom will regulate the TV-Style videos that are made available by major broadcasters and will not regulate any stuff on the social networking sites such as YouTube and MySpace.
