Of enhanced swimming, the PISCES project and science fiction 'comes alive'

The "Performance Improving Self Contained Exoskeleton for Swimming" (PISCES) project is a bionic adaptation crafted to replicate the swimming techniques as observed in animals such as penguins, sea-turtles and dolphins. If military researchers are to be believed, the exoskeleton under development boasts to enhance human ability by facilitating them underwater. The PISCES project consists of two versions, the "upper-body" and "lower-body" concept. The purpose of these devices is to enhance performance in swimming. The lower-body version is a powered version (2.4 kg. silver-zinc batteries) of using fins to propel you forward whereas the upper-body version would require you to strap yourself like a penguin.

In my evaluation of both versions, I agree with experts when they say that this implement would be very useful in a stealthy underwater assault, as propellers are not used here. The lower-body version can also be used for recreational purposes, allowing people who sight-see underwater to maximize their experience.
