
No, we are not talking about those deadly robots from the sci-fi genre of Hollywood flicks. We are talking about an IBM PC XT equivalent system, 16-bit real-time microcomputer with a 20MB hard drive called Newton. Newton was a household robot designed way back some 20 years ago. Computers and technology, especially these Newtons, have really come a long way since then. Someone could hardly imagine what a robot those days could do other than disturb you from your daily activities and speak a language that would be completely out of this world; ‘Newton’ was more like ‘Nuisance’. Fortunately, companies like iRobot are coming out with next-gen robo-concepts which can be helpful in daily office work and disarming bombs alike, and these Robots make a whole lot more sense than that post box-lookalike robot from the 80s.
