The internet gives us the ability to see and the prowess to communicate and frankly speaking, it was the smelling part which was missing. NTT has developed the i-Aroma, which is capable of that third sense and probably the most difficult one. The i-Aroma is a Fragrance Communication System (with a USB Connector) with six basic fragrances which could be sent over the internet. The USB device mixes and vaporizes the six oils depending on the prompts received by the diffuser. The Japanese firm is in the middle of a huge trial which would see 360 users experimenting with the i-Aroma.
NTT has joined hands with an astrology group to coordinate a service where fragrances would be wafted with different planets depending on their described nature. Other than making the web “smelly,” this device would also render fragrances depending on your lifestyle, and it has been corroborated by an aroma specialist.
