Novel tech fits prosthetic arm directly into the bone

Prosthetic limbs have a come a long way, and this one is truly a breakthrough. Doctors have managed to add a prosthetic limb directly to the bone of a London bombing victim. Inspired by the way “skin interacts with deer antlers,” doctors fused a metal pin with Kira Mason’s skin tissue. So there’s metal that connects the prosthetic limb with the tissue and bones inside her body, so it will not easily cause infection. An added battery pack allows Kira to do some actions like clenching her fists and moving her muscles.
The limb isn’t just a cosmetic addition; it allows her to perform basic functions and also works with the body. It is a huge step forward for prosthetic limbs, and a stepping-stone to the future.
