Despite this fact the FCC has finally dropped the requirement of the language for an amateur radio license.
Up until now you had to have a speed of around 5 words per minute in writing the code if your dream was to become a ham radio operator.
However, this decision of the FCC makes American radio operators stand in the line with Europeans and Canadians who have abandoned the requirement since 2003.
