The most fascinating aspect of technology is the fact that it is as dynamic as human desires. A couple of decades ago, cushioned running shoes were ‘cool’. The past decade or so has witnessed the rise of ‘intelligent’ shoes that made running and jogging a lot more fun. Who would have imagined electronic technology to find its way into mundane leather footwear! And here we are, happy that evolution is an ongoing process because Nike and Apple (iPod) are now collaborating to take footwear intelligence to a whole new level. I am not sure if it would make a huge difference to your fitness training, but it certainly helps to keep track of the distance run, the heart rate, body temperature, etc. That’s precisely what this technology does! An idea that’s being incubated currently, the patent would mean joggers would have electronic pins (read sensors!) all over their body. And GPS wouldn’t be a distant thought, either! However, we wonder if the technology would ever see the light of day, since Nike has had the reputation of shelving many interesting products.
