Nichia develops 150 Lumens/Watt White LED

Nichia, a widely known company for the Blue-Laser diodes has developed a White LED that delivers an awesome efficiency of 150 Lumens/Watt.

The LED prototype is packaged in a lamp-type package and delivers 11.5 times the efficiency of a conventional incandescent lamps.
According to Nichia the prototype is even more efficient than the high pressure sodium lamps that are considered the most efficient lamps.
The LED prototype is powered by a 20mA current and can deliver a flux of 9.4 lumens at 4,600 Kelvin color temperature.
The company has not yet disclosed the availability and the pricing of the product.
