Do you find yourself in trouble with the archiving of the countless pictures and maintaining the pandemonium in an eternal array of photographs? At this year’s CeBIT trade fair, Scientists at Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT and the Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications HHI will be showcasing some new innovative technologies intended to help in systematizing the endless sea of photographs.
In the near future, a system dubbed aceMedia will astutely organize photos when they are saved on the hard disk. It will even check that whether the picture was taken indoors or outdoors, taken in a landscape mode or a man-made mode. The system, by design, ‘labels’ (digital labels referred to as metadata) each photograph according to its characteristics.
Another system for Windows Mobile devices dubbed Pocket-PC Photobrowser will allow the user to do the same tasks on a mobile phone. The Pocket-PC Photobrowser creates a thumbnail, or miniature picture, of each photograph, and analyzes its metadata. It is expected to make a debut in about six months from now.
But, the concept devices are just a concept. Let’s see whether these innovative products would meet realism or not.
