According to a tip received by Engadget – confirmed by a source close to Apple, details on the new iteration of the Apple TV have surfaced. The new, $99 Apple TV set top box architecture is reportedly based on the iPhone OS 4 and A4 processor, which supports the device’s ability to deliver content in 1080p – full HD. The Apple TV will have 16GB of flash storage, but we learn its hardware is very thin; it has only two ports i.e. for power and video out with a cloud-based content streaming – thus some are describing it as "an iPhone without a screen." Unfortunately for us, Apple isn’t going to shell out any information on the Apple TV at the forthcoming Worldwide Developers Conference next month, but the development is currently full steam ahead. Will this be a set top box in itself, or would Apple release an HDTV connected with Apple TV functions, well that’s something only time and Apple can answer.
