Recently, Japan organized a 3D and virtual reality expo that put forth advanced creations of several companies. One among them, named Global Wave, showcased its series of pic3D film covers that can convert any LCD display into a glasses-free 3D set. These covers are specially designed for mobile phone and monitor screens. Fabricated with a futuristic touch, the sheets enhance user experience.

In order to overcome the parallax barrier noted in most 3D films, the 'pic3D' sheets employ a lenticular lens system. This system helps attain light transmission levels of over 90 percent and a 120° field of view. The innovative covers work with a downloadable software application that is built to transform side-by-side imaging into stereoscopic views. Hence, the viewed content appears in 3D when seen through the 'pic3D' sheets.
With the assistance of this application, users can also gain easy access to input video URLs from a number of sites including YouTube for watching 3D-like content. As of now, the sheets are made in 12.1-inch 15.6-inch, 21.5-inch and 23-inch. They not only fit iPhone4 and iPod touch, but also iPad 2. This novel range of pic3D sheets can be picked up in a price range of around $25 for the iPhone cover and about 185 USD for the 23-inch sheet.
