New laser sights to make snipers even more deadly

Snipers are invaluable tools available to every army in the world. They represent the very cutting edge of the infantry fighting capability of an army. Their job is to take out valuable enemy targets without getting shot at. For achieving this purpose the snipers must also have the very best of the tools that are available in the market. Having a sniper can be so useful that even law enforcement agencies around the world uses snipers to defeat the bad guys.

For long the snipers have relied on rifles which are fitted with telescopic sights to give them the most accurate shot possible. With advancements in technology the sniper rifles have also been made more accurate. Now, it seems, that the sniper rifle have been given another boost of modern technology.

Scientists at Oak Ridge National Laboratory have come up with a new laser sight that will give the good old sniper rifles increased accuracy. This new laser sight could replace the optical sights that sniper rifles are currently equipped with. The new laser system is capable of automatically adjusting the crosshairs for giving the rifle the accuracy it should have. After all, a sniper cannot afford to miss his target. He has to take out his target in just one shot & that is what this new laser sight will help him achieve. The laser sight gives the sniper much more precision capability than he had with the optical systems.

This new laser sight removes human guesswork by electronically correcting the crosshairs. It does that in real time. The resolution of the laser system is also 250 times better than optical systems currently in use today.

According to Slobodan Rajic, a researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the new laser system will help tremendously in anti-terrorist operations & law enforcement by offering the soldier or the policeman better precision & accuracy in taking out their target.

The team at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is also working on a laser based bullet tracking system which will relay information about its flight path to the sniper. With this new laser sighting system terrorists & criminals will have very few places to hide in the future.
