At first sight, it might look as if the iPod is on a color coaster ride. But iPod fanatics surely know what exactly it is. Apple has invigorated its iPod lineup with a snazzy and slim 4G iPod nano. The 2g touch and classic also witnessed some updates. The close cousin of iPhone, the 2g iPod touch was integrated with a built-in speaker and thin contoured metal case. We had earlier brought you the juicy photo leak of the iPod nano, which suggested that Apple was going to shirk off the obese fat look of 3g nano and embed a screen size that covered as much as half of its front surface.
So the bundle of surprise was only the invigorating color choice and a set of enriched features. The budding of all the features is the new Genius function, which stands true to its name as it allows the user to create favorite playlists with a touch of single button. A Genius sidebar can also recommend items to purchase from the iTunes Store. The “shake to shuffle” function seems to allow users to move back and forth on the current playlist.
Last but not the least is the accelerometer, which resorts to the landscape mode to render a rich viewing experience of photos and videos. The new 8GB ($150) and 16GB ($199) nano stand tall like their former siblings but what gives them an extra edge is the fact that they’ve been billed as the slimmest nanos ever! Vivid hues of silver, gunmetal, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red and pink make it to nano’s color platter, but the omission of black could disappoint some folks.
