Don’t have enough cash to spend on your Personal Computer? Here’s a deal for you. The cool new $72 Cereal PC is here.

These days, people are just throwing away older computer parts for free. Most of the parts are fully functional. One can custom built a PC using these old parts for as cheap as $72 using a cereal box!

With antiquated components flooding the surplus-parts market and free operating systems only a click away, building a fully functional computer has never been such a bargain

How does it work?

The tiny PC works with the help of a USB capable flash drive. The Operating System has been customized as well. It’s a Linux based OS and is known as Damn Small Linux!

Once you put together the motherboard of the computer, sit tight and just hope that it might work. You can customize any box according to the shape and size of the motherboard. So we call this one a Lunchbox or Cereal PC.

What can you do with this kind of computer?

Well let’s take a guess. I would strip the functions of the PC down to a bare minimum. The user should be able to add a touchscreen to the PC, play linux games and check the email or browse the net.

Drawbacks of Lunch box PC

Eventhough the cereal computer lets you perform the basic computer functions, this ain’t your Intel Dual Core laptop. So be careful with it. Do not overclock the PC or else the box might burst.

I think this is a great creative concept. For those without much cash, they can think about making this kind of computer. Next time you open a lunch box, there might be a PC inside for lunch or breakfast!
