New electronic reader from Plastic Logic

If you are like me and hate reading e-books directly off the computer monitor or with the use of those clumsy e-book readers, your problems have been solved. Plastic Logic has announced a new electronic reader, which is the size of an 8.5x11 piece of paper and thinner than a cellphone. The reader, which is aimed at business clients, will allow users to read documents such as Office suite files (Word, Excel, etc.), PDFs, periodicals, magazines, full-size e-books and much more. The most stunning quality about this product is the fact that it's about the same size as one of the usual magazines we read in our daily lives. Plastic Logic also went the step ahead to use a combination of old and new technology to improve its robustness. They have used a plastic technology, developed by Cambridge University, to engineer the back pane (which manages the ink display) rather than the usual, more fragile, glass-based TFT panes. Other details about the device are still under wraps but there is talk about the device having battery life to last for days rather than hours. The reader is set for a release sometime in the middle of 2009.
