New amphibious sealegs revealed in Australian boat show
Remember the WWII amphibious vehicles? Well, here's a much modern and improved civilian version of the amphibious boats. These boats apparently have 'sealegs' built in them so that they can sorta run on land. The latest model has smaller sealegs and improved features. Here's more on the inflatable amphibious boats.

The best part about these boats are the wheels. The new and improved smaller wheels let the drivers get out of the water and drive these on land. When I talk about driving the boat, it kind of sounds funny. Wouldn't you agree? But, it is very true.

Displayed at the latest Melbourne Australia boat show, these sealegs look like a 6.1 meter aluminum D-tube. The latest model is inflatable.
These boats are also equipped with drive on trailers that can be hitched to any vehicle. This way customers can expect faster land transportation. The customer range vary from individuals planning on buying these just for fun to emergency departments like the coast guard or lifeguards. I am sure that the boats will come in handy to drive the patients out of the water to the emergency rooms.

The boats can run on land at speeds of 6mph (10 kmph). While in the water, they can reach speeds up to 60 mph(37 kmph). I think that is a lot of speed for a boat like this. Marex is the New Zealand based company that develops these boats. For the price tag you get a payload of 500 kgs. This means you can have 6 adults on board and few items in drybags. Just like any other speedboat, you get CB radios and speakers along with this one.
These amphibious sealegs are the latest in the boat manufacturing industry. These products have raised the bar and taken the boat industry to a newer level. Hopefully, the company will be manufacturing more in future.
