NASA and GM develop Robonaut2, next gen dexterous robot

The two big names from automotive and aerospace industry have combined their inventive skills to develop a range of advanced robots. NASA and General Motors through a Space Act Agreement in collaboration with engineers from Oceaneering Space Systems of Houston have developed Robonaut2 – a.k.a R2, which is the next generation dexterous robot. The robot is said to be faster and dexterous than the previously done robots, and is capable of performing host of tasks from lifting things and writing to shaking hands like a man. The collective attempt here of the two organizations is to build robots that are useful for both automotive and aerospace industries. Follow the jump to see the glimpse of the robotic future.
