Nanogenerators to keep your gizmos charged forever

Can you imagine your MP3, iPod or the cell phone never displays a low battery warning? You don’t need to pinch yourself, dear readers, as this is not a dream. Rather, it's a dream come true. A team of scientists has finally made it possible. Dr. Zhong Lin Wang, the lead scientist and his team at the Georgia Institute of

Technology are planning to introduce their latest technological wonder called nanotech generator that could keep your loved gizmos charged forever.

As per a report, the researchers are at last successful in developing chips that uses normal body drifts to create enough electricity to run LCD displays. But the ultimate goal of the team is to develop a method through which mere body movements can generate electricity and power portable devices such as iPods, implantable medical devices and cell phones.

“Our bodies are good at converting chemical energy from glucose into the mechanical energy of our muscles ... These nanogenerators can take that mechanical energy and convert it to electrical energy for powering devices inside [or outside] the body. This could open up tremendous possibilities.”

This wonder can eventually alter the way our gizmos would be charged in near future. According to Dr. Wang, the latest nanogenerators are manufactured out of zinc oxide nanowires that as and when twisted, produce electricity. Fundamentally speaking, it can produce electricity by drifting the body in any direction. Just imagine, how the gizmo freaks are going to have a ball with these little wonders called nanogenerators.
