Nanodrizas, a floating saucer to tackle water pollution in rivers

Mexican artist Arcangel Constantini has developed a floating autonomous robot to tackle water pollution issues. The device called Nanodrizas can be floated into the waters in rivers and streams to test the pollution range. Multiple sensors help Nanodrizas gather up the data from rivers. Enhanced wireless network services then transmit the collected data into interpretation centers and visualization systems. Nanodrizas are designed akin to flying saucers.

Nanodrizas respond to the condition of water through chemical interventions and audio expressions as well. The independent device will produce acoustic responses to the state of water and its pollution range. The data will rapidly be sent to the data interpretation centers for processing via wireless communication technologies. Multiple environmental conditions such as temperature, level of humidity, turbidity and pH scale will be analyzed by Nanodrizas.

Moreover, the device can be used to discharge enzymatic and bacterial remedies into the water. It will help regulate water in maintaining a better quality. On the whole, Nanodrizas is a better solution to check the pollution level of water, warn people of the condition and disperse the remedies as enzymatic and bacterial substances. This technology has been developed by Constantini. He has been reportedly working on the project since 2006.

Nanodrizas was tested by Constantini in two highly polluted water sources in Mexico, a river in Puebla city and Lago de Chapultepec lake. The first one has been contaminated by the first textile company of Latin America, La Constancia, for several years and the second one is a polluted artificial lake built by Porfirio Diaz.

Nanodrizas was demoed at the FILE festival, a platform for developers to showcase their innovative media art products. Watch the video clip below to see Constantini presenting the Nanodrizas. The video shows the device floating in water.
