Mtron Storage Technology Co. Ltd, have developed a new 1.8” ZIF-type SSD for laptops, which will be available in April. Mtron’s new SSD supports PATA interface and provides read and write speeds of 120MB/s and 100MB/s, respectively. It can turn out to be a great component in high-end rugged UMPCs. SSD consumes 50% less energy than traditional HDD and therefore the SSD is considered as a potential HDD replacement owing to its less power consumption and rugged nature but the high process and low memory capacity could be the puller down for it. The price plays a crucial role when it comes to devices, and it becomes all the more a priority when it’s about 128 GB of Solid State Disk up for the grabbing, though very sadly we inform that there is no word on the pricing just yet, but the guessing is no one’s legacy...so you guys keep guessing by the time we are fetching for the details.

Steve Jeon, CEO of Mtron said,

With our new 1.8 Inch SSD, Mtron has added another great product line as a leader in SSD market, which is expected to grow into ten billion dollars in 2012. Our new product is a result of careful market analysis and research for consumer needs, and we will launch our new product in April so that we can satisfy their need for high performance SSD products.
