Motorola plans an Andorid-powered watch-like device for multiple uses

Motorola is speculatively working on an innovative gadget. It is not a smartphone, nor a tablet, but a watch-like device that will mainly act as a smart music player and GPS tracker. A recent online survey by the Libertyville-based company among a set of its customers has revealed Motorola’s plan to bring out the device, which is reportedly labeled as MotoActive.

The images of MotoActive that are spread on the Web resemble the device as built using an Apple iPod Nano and Nike’s SportWatch. That is, in other words, the output of Motorola’s experiment will be a gadget that you can wear on your hand with its watch-like band. And you can enjoy some multimedia features on its small display.

As of now, little is known about the product’s other capabilities. It is said that it will run on Google Android platform. Moreover, the GPS tracker of MotoActive is expected to be not just a usual Global Positioning System. It will help users calculate the burnt calories in their body thanks to its attachment with the body. As well, the device can also track the heart beats of its wearer.

MotoActive that is still in concept may have options to wirelessly connect with personal computers and other handheld devices like smartphones and tablets. However, it is not clear whether MotoActive will have a standalone existence. Sometimes, it might be just a device that will work with any Motorola smartphones in your pocket.

Motorola has just collected opinions of its consumers through the online survey. The company, one of leading Android smartphone and tablet makers in the world, might be doing some research based on its customers’ opinions. After that the company will be shaping the device with some more additional features, analysts think.

Being a reputed technology maker, there is less chance that Motorola will combine Apple or other company’s products to design its new gadget. The images on the Web might be meant just to show how the device will look like. It is doubted that images were shown for the survey respondents.
