Comparison Attributes

1. Screen Size

Both Droid RAZR and Galaxy Nexus are embellished with Samsung’s Super AMOLED display. The former one has a 4.3-inch qHD 960x540-pixel resolution touchscreen, while the latter features a 4.65-inch 1,280x720-pixel resolution screen. Galaxy Nexus absolutely reigns over its Moto rival in screen size and resolution.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It has a bit more large display, though both devices mount Super AMOLED displays.

2. Software

It is here the Android smartphones have the major difference in between. Galaxy Nexus is the first smartphone on Google’s much-frenzied Android 4.0 ICS. Technology enthusiasts, especially the Android geeks, have been excitedly waiting for Ice Cream Sandwich. It has now gone official on Galaxy Nexus from Samsung. Droid RAZR, on the other hand, runs on the most recent version of Gingerbread, Android 2.3.5. Perhaps, RAZR will immediately get updated to ICS.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It runs on Ice Cream Sandwich, the most recent version of Android.

3. Price

Both Samsung and Motorola have not disclosed anything about the pricing of the upcoming smartphones. The phones are just announced. They are slated to roll out of furnace in next months. Pricing details are expected to come from the companies almost immediately.

Winner: No winner. Prices of the phones are not available for a comparison.

4. Camera

Motorola has an 8-megapixel camera on Droid RAZR and it supports 1080p video capturing. It means the company looks for a tough competition with iPhone 4S and Galaxy S II. Galaxy Nexus, in the meantime, surprisingly misses an 8-megapixel camera and is with a 5-megapixel camera, but even features 1080p HD video capture capability. In the front, Droid RAZR has a 1.3-megapixel camera with 720p video capture, and Nexus has a 1.3-megpaixel camera.

Winner: Motorola Droid RAZR.

5. Target Audiences

With Droid RAZR, Motorola simply looks to grab the attention of people, who may consider upgrading their phone either to an iPhone 4S or Galaxy II. The new smartphone from Motorola carries all major features the iPhone 4S and Galaxy II are known for. With Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Google, not Samsung, aims to lead customers to the next major upgrade to its Android mobile OS, Ice Scream Sandwich. Galaxy Nexus, the third generation Nexus phone, was just built by Samsung for Google.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The third generation Google Nexus has been largely awaited by millions of Android fans. So it evidently has an edge over Droid RAZR.

The verdict:

As per the above comparison, we can simply state that the Ice Cream Sandwich-run Galaxy Nexus is the ultimate winner. It is of no doubt that an Android enthusiast will prefer an Ice Cream Sandwich phone to a Gingerbread phone. The new version of Android has been creating buzz in markets for a long period. Moreover, ICS is Android’s reply to Apple iOS 5 and Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. So Android customers will have a craze towards the platform. However, with a better camera and small display, Droid RAZR is certainly a challenging competitor to Galaxy Nexus. The smartphone market is indeed to witness an exciting clash between Droid RAZR and Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
