When you’re sitting in front of your sucky office workstation trying to punch out the numbers for the day on your almost ancient desktop, the news that Alienware has just launched what it calls the ‘Most Powerful Notebook Ever’ seems like a big cosmic joke aimed straight at you. But the swanky new Area-51 m17x sure is some fuel for fantasy. Apart from the rather obvious mystery-generating name, the jazzy notebook also features an Intel Core2 Extreme processor with a dual, SLI-enabled NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX GPUs that make your old, dusty desktop look like an over-the-hill horse cart from a famine-hit third world country. What’s even more bewildering is that this little monster boasts of 500GB mobile hard drives, which unsurprisingly, are also the largest in the world till date. With dual drives configured in a RAID 0 array plus a 500GB Smart Bay drive for additional storage, users get to enjoy an outlandishly mind-boggling 1.5TB capacity that can easily store over 250 games, 375 full-length movies or over half a million songs. Damn, that’s just making my ‘new’ notebook look so damn prehistoric already!
