MIT's Interactive Software brings drawings to life
I always wished if there was a way to animate my drawings so that I can just scribble something on drawing board and watch it move. Well, maybe it's not for the similar purpose but it surely is something I would like to work on.

An MIT engineer has designed a software that converts your sketch that is drawn directly on screen into moving mechanical system. This video here shows how this system is used and how it responds to user actions. You can make anything stable by drawing 'X' sign inside it and select by creating a circle around the item. Selected items can be dragged anywhere on the screen. Items without X mark would fall when mechanical system is activated as if they are pulled by gravity. Video clearly shows that items follow normal principles of physics.
Maybe this software is supposed to help students in learning mechanical systems and their working but I can foresee the uses this software can be put into. It can make animation a hell lot easier, you just have to draw the car and scenic view around and in a second your car will be moving and lots of work and time will be saved.
