MIT’s BiDi screen lets you interact with off-screen gestures

The latest in the technological advancement from MIT’s Media Lab is a multitouch computing interface that also captures off-screen interactions. Hailed as the BiDi, the I/O device is an everyday LCD screen modified into a unit that can capture and display images. The bi-directional screen allows the viewer to interact with the objects on screen in 3D. The user can control the on-screen objects by merely waving the arms in the air, hand movement recognition, no touch required… pretty much like the Project Natal but not actually that. The system embedded with optical sensors to track gestures can also function as a 3D scanner. Video below explains how the bi-directional screen actually works.
