The race for the smallest gets another impetus with the introduction of Shenzhen AEE Wireless Technology’s recently exhibited Mini DV. Touted as the world’s smallest video camera up on show at the ongoing fair in Hong Kong, the Mini DV measures just 55 x 20 x 18mm, and can be clipped onto your clothes. The ultimate mini-size camcorder seems perfect in size for wannabe Bonds and home video experts, for the thumb-sized camera weighs nothing over 50g.
The Mini DV is sans a display screen; of course, it’s too early to expect one in a size that small. But with a 2-MP CMOS sensor, the ultra-small camera shoots 640 x 480-pixel JPEG images at 30fps, which are converted to AVI format and can be viewed on transferring to a PC or a laptop. Housing a Li-ion battery, the camera has two hours of backup time, and also has a USB port along with a MicroSD slot of up to 8GB.

There’s no mention on the price or availability, but we can guess the folks in the West will have to wait on a lot before they can get their hands on the Mini DV. Ah! someone in the West will better it soon!
