iRobot joins forces with Metal Storm to create the Terminator. Their goal is to create something that is efficient and will save lives on the battlefield without putting them in danger. A Metal Storm spokesman had this to say,

We want our soldiers to have the option of controlling a robot that could go ahead and investigate, engage or deter an enemy and not put human soldiers at risk.

The new robot will mostly be in Iraq and Afghanistan very soon. Although there have been many military robots used, this one seems to have a silver lining. This one not only looks cool, but can shoot over 1 million rounds a minute. The gun is fired through electric charges rather than firepin explosions.

But what really astounds me is that there are absolutely no moving parts on the robot. The only thing moving is the bullet out of the gun. This really puts out for me because who wouldn’t want something as awesome looking as that gun and have it pump a million rounds into you in no time at all?

There is also another robot that is already seeing some action that is also as good as the one iRobot is making. This robot is called MAARS robot. Although it doesn’t shoot a million rounds a minute, this robot can withstand almost anything. With their robots being blown up around 10-15 times, these guys go back and still do their job. They are mostly unhurt but sometimes have to make a trip to the robot hospital. Another advantage besides durability is the armament. Even though not rapid shooting, this puppy packs 40-mm grenade launcher, M240B machine gun, pepper spray, or lazer dazzers. The robot has a lot to choose from when you are speaking of an arsenal.

But the one thing both of them lack, but have been made up for, is that human touch. Although they are killing machines, they can’t properly analyze a dangerous situation and take the best route to getting the men and women out of there safely. So this is why we have a human controlling these monsters. Well, now at least we are putting some soldiers out of harms way in the process of rooting out terrorism.
