Apparently, there’s a lot of time when we’ll actually see some Robot Michael Angelo to sketch those mystic pieces for us. But this Giant Painting Machine (Milano) wants things on canvas right now in its own unique way. The GPM is a simple electro-mechanical system carved out of scrap materials. Large Mylar sheets are used as canvas on which the brushes, filled with colorful acrylic inks, paint complex and dynamic abstract images by moving continuously in cycling paths.
Brush strokes keep varying and are controlled by simple switches and DC motor. It’s also fitted with a customized, self-modifying version of Larry Polansky’s Anna’s Music Box software.
