We have already talked at length about the Minority Report styled interactive displays. If Microsoft’s Windows Vista didn’t impress you much, you need to check out the Microsoft’s Surface and I am sure you will just say, Whoa! The Surface Computer (aka Surface) marks the beginning of next wave of computing. For your info, Surface Computing is a novel technique of working with computers that goes past the customary mouse-and-keyboard experience. With five years in the making, the fanatically cool Surface is a kind of tabletop system that lets the users interact with digital media in some incredible ways. An abstract from the press release:

Surface turns an ordinary tabletop into a vibrant, dynamic surface that provides effortless interaction with all forms of digital content through natural gestures, touch and physical objects.

Microsoft foresees that people will have their own surface computers within three to five years from now. Currently, each interactive unit will set you back $10,000. This 30-inch display will be very soon available for use in restaurants, hotels, retail establishments and public entertainment venues.
