Expanding its tentacles in the field of hardware, Microsoft Corporation will soon launch its new line of web cameras. The two cameras known as 'LifeCams' will be available for about $50 (VX-3000) and $100 (VX-6000). The cameras equip a button on top to unleash video chat quickly and are hence fully compatible with Microsoft's Windows Live Messenger program and other instant-messaging programs. Both the cameras feature embedded microphones and video cameras.

Microsoft is also planning to refurbish its MSN's instant-messaging program by including special 'LifeCam dashboard' in the new software. The actual competition with other major webcam manufacturers, including Logitech, will start in August with the LifeCam's launch.
