Microsoft unveils a futuristic Kinect driven armchair

When Kinect was released for Xbox back in 2010, the tagline that came along with it was - a controller-free gaming and entertainment experience by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Well, now the attributes related to Kinect have certainly advanced beyond that scope, and has found their ways into various unique and adroitly conceived setups (or hacks, if you like). And latest in this line of hacks is the state-of-the-art MIX11, a Microsoft built armchair that can be blissfully driven by Kinect.

This exceptional setup is based on the upcoming Kinect software development kit (SDK) for Windows. This SDK actually opens up possibilities for this already eminent technology's improvement over Visual Basic, C++, C#.

Going back to the chair, it will feature smooth controls defined just by hand motions and even reclining. Though not much is divulged, Microsoft is likely to release further updates regarding the chair's source code with the SDK pack. And from the technological perspective, it can certainly be a big and rather conscientious step forward, not just for its high-tech prowess, but also for the convenient mobility of thousands of differently enabled people around the world.
