Functionality

The demoed Windows 8 tablet PC concept was only a prototype model. The company has not mentioned anything about the likely technical specifications and features of the tablet. Nor did the company say when its Windows 8-based tablet would be up for sales.

What to expect

Indeed, we can expect a dazzling tablet from Microsoft on its feature-rich Windows 8 OS. The company recently said that its tablet would be working like a PC. Undoubtedly, playing on a software that runs on most of computers on the earth, the Microsoft tablet will be a thing of difference in the market.

Though Microsoft has not revealed anything about its imminent tablet, we can simply assume that it will be competent with Apple iPad and Android tablets. Microsoft Windows 8-powered tablet will certainly have an improved processor, plenty of RAM, massive memory capacity and many other amazing features, beneficial for both enterprise and individual users. Microsoft’s key products like Exchange and MS Office will definitely be there.

What not to expect

Some analysts have noted that the user interface of the showcased Windows 8 tablet looked exactly like the UI of Windows Phone 7. Though, people are really looking for a fresh user interface for Microsoft’s new software and tablet, this may not be the case, perhaps.

Wrap up

Microsoft has been in extensive efforts to grow up its Windows as a leading OS platform for tablets. The company recently churned out an agreement with the Finnish mobile maker Nokia to develop a new ecosystem in the smartphone and tablet arena in reply to Apple iOS and Google Andorid. However, it is not sure Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8 tablet is shaped by Nokia or any other third party hardware makers. Microsoft was associated with firms like HP, LG, HT,C and ASUS to manufacture smartphones for its Windows Phone 7.

There is not yet a word on the upcoming Windows 8 tablet’s tech specs, features, price tag, or release date. Of course, we can expect the device to come out of the furnace in the beginning of 2012. And hope that Microsoft Windows 8 tablet may emerge out as a key tablet PC, raising challenges to both Apple and Google.
