Microsoft’s rumored multi-touch sphere shaped Surface has been finally unveiled at DemoFest and here is first look at globular form of display. It’s got that ‘oomph-factor’ but besides that it is anything but revolutionary. It may have some specific uses but other than that I can’t think of a use that will make this a household item. In this video you can see various functions being performed on the sphere like viewing photos, viewing globe (works best) in real-time (showing day and night areas) and also a sweet-ass ping-pong game. It uses infrared technology to detect hands of the users while user is touching the surface of the sphere. This product is not commercially available as of now, but hopefully Microsoft will launch it in market as some people can surely find a good use for it.
