Microsoft we know for a while now is onto developing new Operating Systems for the mobile device. They’ve pulled back a couple of phones including the Kins, to build on better OSes and to slot in new features into its Windows Phone 7. Amid all this, Microsoft’s Research department has revealed the Microsoft Menlo, a prototype phone which shows scope for new possibilities of OSes in mobile phones. Based on Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2, which incorporates a Bosch BMA150 3-axis accelerometer and Bosch BMP085 digital pressure sensor (barometer), the Menlo is a prototype phone with 4.1-inch 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen.

Menlo would to an extent be Microsoft’s take on the future of commercial enterprise embedded devices, because the device, we learn will imbibe the best of the withdrawn Kin and the under process WP7 to run a new utility Windows CE. This OS here will be for the new age devices, making provision for a Greenfield sensor-powered app for tracking and navigation.
