It seems that Microsoft will again kick off its teasing spree with the next generation UMPCs dubbed as ‘Vistagami’.
The new UMPCs will run Windows Vista, rather than XP and will drop in with a lower price tag, hopefully. Though the Samsung Q1 starts at $1,100, we are still hopeful that the prices will further go down, especially when Vistagami is in the pipeline and Mika Krammer, a director in Microsoft’s Windows product marketing unit, pretending to be disappointed with the current price scenario.
However, we would definitely like Microsoft to hit the long-term $500 price goal soon if the giant is truly looking forward to pitch its devices as mass-market products. As Ina Fried says, the company can definitely encourage more competition among manufacturers giving way to lower prices much before the arrival of Vistagami.
All we know of the Vistagami products is that there will be a 7′ or smaller display and it will run Windows Vista Home Premium, Ultimate, or any other high-end operating system that can cater to the touch and tablet capabilities.
Thanks: Ina Fried
