Microsoft patents muscle control interface for computers

Posted By: Bharat BhushanSharma | Jan 4 2010

In the future you may control your computers with muscle power. Don’t start flexing them, because it isn’t the power of the muscles but the movement that’ll do the trick. After all those brain controls and eye controls for computers, now it’s Microsoft seeking patent for a EMG- Electromyography based input technique, where electrical activity from muscles would be translated into instructions for the computer. The method would require EMG sensors to be connected to the arm muscles that would pick up finger gestures based on the muscle movement, without the need of any hanky-panky cameras and other peripherals. The concept interface is too far from being real, but we’ll give it to Microsoft for the futurism, but also hope they can pull it off. Follow the jump to see the video showing the concepts discussed in the patent.
