Microsoft offers new SDK for Surface multi-touch system

Microsoft released a new Software Development Kit (SDK) for its multi-touch Surface, it has been made available for download at Microsoft Download Center. SDK has been upgraded to run on the current technologies - XNA 4.0,WPF 4.0 and Windows 7 for both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. It will not only work for Microsoft Surface but also Windows 7 Touch enabled PCs.

There have been various up-gradations to the SDK, the Element Menu control has been enabled for dragging as well as tapping gestures. It now consists of 49 sample icons that can be imported to user applications. Microsoft has provided various resources for Microsoft Surface 2.0 SDK at Microsoft Surface Design and Development Center. Surface 2.0 has a lot of updations over Surface 1.0.

The resolution has gone up from 1024x768 to 1920x1080 with faster CPU and more RAM. The new GUI is Windows 7 based. Also the new surface is just four inches thick that makes it mountable on flat surfaces. However, all these changes will tempt its potential buyers or not is yet to be seen, the suggested price of Surface 2.0 based Samsung SUR40 is around $7,600, which will surely make you think twice before going for it.
