Only six weeks since the Kin "semi-smartphones" were released into the market, the span already seems to be the longest the Kin would be made to breath. News has it, from the Microsoft’s spokesperson himself, that "the Kin will not be shipped in Europe this fall as planned," a statement good enough to suggest that the Kin may be dead and buried now. The official statement reads:

Microsoft has made the decision to focus on the Windows Phone 7 launch and will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned. Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones.
Though Verizon Wireless is expected to sell out the Kin phones, but the numbers of sales in the period of release only amount to 500 odd, which had prompted Verizon to slash the Kin prices, yet nothing seemed to work in favor of the either – Microsoft and Verizon. A reason we consider this move from Microsoft a smart one, giving the company an alternative to invest in more profitable ventures, and Windows Phone 7 surely seems to be one.
