Courier from Microsoft was held to be a potential rival to the iPad, but then the plans to bring it out were canceled only to be revived now by winning the patent for the dual display design. It was Microsoft itself that confirmed and canceled the Courier project, but also pointed out the evaluation of underlying technologies to be used in Microsoft’s future ventures. However, today the patent that was filled on January 19th has been accepted. The inventors that have been named in the patent are Jonathan Harris, Scott Wilson and Stephen Christopher of the Chicago design firm Minimal. So, now Microsoft might as well be planning to put Courier into production, but whether it is sooner or later that is not known.
