It’s finally proved that Vista not only gobbles up your systems RAM but sucks the life out of the battery too. Microsoft has also acknowledged the fact that though Windows Vista delivers great graphics, the operating system kills laptop battery life even in its ‘average power’ mode.
Apparently, high-end operating systems do put pressure on battery but manufacturers must make sure that battery life does not take a back seat while maintaining the performance of the whole system. Microsoft is planning to get rid of the snag as soon as possible and is preparing advanced battery-friendly versions of the operating system for future machines.
Vista’s intense graphics such as Aero Glass effect and Flip3D feature suck the juice out of system battery. Perhaps, the introduction of hybrid drives, that also incorporate flash memory and are less power hungry, may give it a new life. Well, for now we’ll have to wait and watch how Microsoft fixes the problem, but one thing is sure, they must move pretty fast.
