If you are among those who worry about the health and safety of elders who live on their own, then Mi-Look launched by KDDI is just the device for you. Several senior citizens are uncomfortable with the new technologies and find it difficult to use mobile devices. The Mi-look is an easy to use device with a GPS-capable pedometer created to cater to the needs of this market.

Capable of connecting to mobile networks, the Mi-Look has a QVGA display, three simple buttons and a water-resistant body. Email ids and phone numbers of relatives and close contacts can be programmed into the device. When senior citizens step outside for a walk or to run errands, the Mi-look sends automatic emails to relatives informing them of the distance covered and current location of the person carrying the device. In emergency, senior citizens can activate the Mi-look buzzer simply by pulling its strap. Thus, if the elderly faces some health related issue while walking, he can simply tug on the strap and his kin can immediately rush to his aid. Thus it helps family members stay in touch even if elders fail to hear the call or do not realize that the phone is ringing.
The Mi-Look will come with a cost effective subscription option and will be priced for about 20,000 yen. It will be launched in the month of September around the Aged National Holiday in Japan.
