If you are trying to loose the excess adipose tissue in your body, then monitoring subcutaneous fat loss is all set to become easier with a new fat measuring device developed by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd. The Body-composition Balance Meter EW-FA70 is cheaper and easier to use than the usual ultra-sonic device that requires to be operated by experts. The Body-composition Balance Meter could be used for health management at home. It uses infrared rays for analyzing subcutaneous fat. The device has an operating part, that when put on a particular portion of the body – on the upper arm, stomach or thigh, emits infrared rays. The infrared radiation diffuses in the fat and reflects off the muscle surface. The reflected rays are received by the two receiving parts of the device to analyze the thickness of the fat. With increase in thickness of the fat, the intensity of the reflected light increases. The appliance also has a ‘balancing ability checker’ to measure the barycentric position of a person.
