The movie ‘Matrix’ and its sequels had spawned a legion of fans. Two kinds, actually! One that completely dotes on the usage of technology in its finest form and another, a die-hard partisan crowd that began to believe that we are perhaps slaves to machines and we need to get ‘unplugged’. For the latter, therefore, anything ‘machine’ is taboo. So, we have a treat meant exclusively for the geeks among you – a PC Case Mod designed around the Matrix Regenerator. The basic hardware requirements are a Pentium 4 3.2, MSI 875P Neo Mainboard, a Solarism 17″ LCD Monitor LM1730, 1 GB Corsair CMX512 3200LL, Crucial Radeon 9800 Pro 256, etc. And as we always say, let’s start from scratch by completely dismantling your original PC case. For the Reservoir, we use a Human Battery Pod, while Pink water wetter should provide a dash of Matrix reality to the capsule.
Use the measurements to construct the casing for your Matrix Regenerator Mod. For the remote webcam, we have identified the housing at the top as the ideal location. The bottom ‘L’ shape should incorporate the VFD, Xenarc display, and wireless (removable) keyboard. After the case is ready, attach the Altec Lansing VS4121 speaker system. Create bezels or borrow an existing one from a Nexus fan controller to construct the panel for the Matrix Orbital 2×20 VFD display (rectangle on the left) as well as the controls for the speaker system. The top of the case will support an additional housing for the CoolerMaster Cooldrive 4 and a Panasonic slim combo drive.
Next in line is the capsule that would hold your human dummy. The capsule can be constructed with Smooth-On Crystal Clear 202. This is a super-transparent resin material that takes just 9 minutes to set and can be de-molded in 90 minutes. First, a mould is created for the required shape. Before sealing up your reservoir, you can mount the Super Sculpey figurine to a plexi support. We will now create the auxiliaries like the radiator, USB and Firewire extension brackets. The final stage is of course the Kitbashing and testing. Once you have created your Matrix Regenerator Case Mod, you know it’s time to get ‘unplugged’. Take a breather!
