jepsenOLPC has been facing some stiff competition from contenders like Asus and Intel already. And now Mary Lou Jepsen, former OLPC chief technology officer has established a new company Pixel Qi which is aiming at developing $75 laptop.

It is noteworthy that OLPC was supposed to be $ 100 project but it turned out to be $200 just like other competitors. Jesen somehow thinks that cost can be brought down to $75 by using low power displays etc. I hope that this promise lives and we can see a real laptop with that price tag.

Jepsen resigned 2 weeks ago from OLPC project so that she can concentrate on her $75 project. She promises that she’ll provide products for OLPC project at cost and maintain her professional relationship with the project. Pixel Qi also plans to bring low-power screens to mainstream laptops and other gadgets.
