Marvell’s $100 Computer, is it for you?
If you are an open source freak (and by freak I mean FREAK!) then your wildest dreams have come true. Introducing a $100 Linux powered computer, that fits into a wall socket and draws just 5 watts of power! Marvell Semiconductor is boasting its latest announcement, SheevaPlug, as a completely open hardware and software design.

Marvell Semiconductor says this new computer is targeted at software/hardware developers. SheevaPlug is quite small and yet Marvell has managed to pack in a 1.2 GHz Sheeva ARM compatible processing core, 512MB of RAM and 512MB of flash memory. Also, these are available singly for $100, with Marvell claiming that for mass orders the price can go as low as $50.
SheevaPlug comes bundled with several ARM ports of popular Linux distros. Its product marketing manager Raja Mukhopadhyay has promised that the company will do its best to help provide the best resources to the developer community.
