After being in the R&D phase for more than two years, a microchip with radio technology has been developed in Malaysia which is claimed to be the world’s smallest. With the three versions priced at six cents each, the smallest version of the chip measures a mere 0.7 mm by 0.7 mm.
The minuscule chip boasts a technology which helps it to emanate radio waves on multiple frequencies thereby enhancing the possibilities of the chip to be entrenched in paper documents. Malaysian government will commercially employ the new microchip to identify original versions of movies on VCDs and DVDs in order to check the unbridled video piracy.
Anyway, the chip is still in the development phases in Japan but the manufacturing will be soon moved to Malaysia.
