Making Lithium-Ion Car a Reality!
Is it really the time for Black Gold to take a nap? No, but very soon it'll become a reality, we've to make it so, , or it'll shun us much before we burn it out. In an effort to find the pulse, when we're just imagining the feats of lithium-ion battery technology, Altair Nanotechnologies is planning to road test an advanced electric vehicle prototype packed with lithium-ion batteries.

To make lithium-ion batteries pour out the desired performance, suitable for high-performance electric vehicles, new electrode materials are used that gives more power, ensures longer battery life, and more available energy storage capacity.
A lithium-ion battery dies due to the expansion and contraction of electrodes as the ions travel and this is checked by the new lithium-ion electrode material and hence making it a viable option for an electric vehicle. More, these ultimate batteries just take six to eight minutes to get recharged and last for 200-250 miles.
I hope these batteries do not meet the same fate as happened with the electric vehicles powered by lead-acid or nickel-metal hydride batteries, such as GMs EV-1 and Toyota's RAV4-EV, which were ultimately discontinued owing to poor sales. These cost effective Li-ion batteries show promising future in field of electric vehicles and will take the auto industry by storm if becomes a reality.
